it's been a year since i interviewed at loma linda.  we had our new applicants come in for interviews this past wednesday.  i have to admit it was weird being on the other side.  it's kind of funny to see them nervous.  i wonder if i was that nervous.  6 more will be chosen to work with us for a year.  hopefully we'll get a good group to work with.

i hate late days...

i had to take advanced cardiac life support class again even though mine doesn't have to be renewed for 2 years.  i thought it would be easy to just take it now, and not worry about it while i'm in my program.  one of the requirements is to have basic life support training.  well, since i've been ACLS trained for the past 6 years, i never took BLS after my ACLS certification.  i go in today and show them my ACLS card, and they are like "you need to have your BLS card."  uhhh...hello!  i am ACLS certified...why would i have my BLS card?  but the lady kept on saying that i needed a BLS card in order for me to receive my ACLS card.  what the heck?  are you an idiot or something?  i couldn't convince the stupid lady at the place, so i would have to stay until midnight tomorrow in order for me to finish up my BLS.

on the side note, during our ACLS training, we were learning about airways and intubations.  let's just say, don't let a cardiologist do an intubation.  holy crap!  he was all over the place.  he intubated the esophagus (stomach) twice before giving up.  good thing it was just a mannequin.  i guess that's why he's a cardiologist...because when i have my questions about ECGs, he'll be the first one to be paged.  =P

i've decided to venture out and experience California little bit this past weekend.  went peach-picking, had neng myun and kalbi for lunch while enjoying UW beat USC, stayed around ktown for their korean festival, and finished the day by eating in n' out burger and homemade peach smoothie.  i guess that wasn't really California...oh well.  it was relaxing.

i'll be back to cardiology rotation tomorrow...we have two more weeks left here at the VA.  although i don't like running stress tests, i will definitely miss the hours.  we get in around 8:30 and get out around 4:30 with lunch break everyday.  once this month is over, i'm back to 6:30am until who knows when schedule.

on the brighter side, i'm going to vegas this weekend, san francisco in three weeks, and i hope to go home sometime in october.  i love traveling, and i deserve it!

back to school!!!!

i can't believe i'm back in school at this age.  i thought i was all done getting out of my general practice residency, but i'm back at it again.  long days in the clinic, reading after school, not enough sleep....ahhhhh!  it's good to be back in school.  =P
